Presentation Title:

Increasing endometrial lining with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract

A thin endometrial lining (TEL) presents a significant challenge for clinicians in assisted reproductive technology (ART) and has become a focal point of recent research. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which includes acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, offers a holistic approach that has demonstrated efficacy in treating TEL. TCM's integrative philosophy emphasizes balancing Yin and Yang, harmonizing Qi and Blood, and optimizing overall body function to stimulate the body's self-healing mechanisms, thereby improving endometrial thickness and ART outcomes. This article explores TEL from the perspective of TCM, discussing its etiology, pathogenesis, treatment strategies, and principles, as well as specific Chinese herbal formulas and acupuncture points. It also contrasts TCM with Western medicine’s definition, causes, symptoms, limitations, diagnostic methods, and treatment advancements for TEL. Furthermore, it provides an update on current TCM research and presents three clinical cases to illustrate practical applications.
